This report covers the design analysis of an Ericsson W-CDMA/LTE 2100MHz RRUS12 B4 2x60W remote radio unit. This unit is part of the RBS6601 main/remote base station platform for Ericsson supporting GSM/W-CDMA/LTE. The unit was manufactured in Q4 2013. Key Findings: The remote radio unit uses an innovative heat dissipation system to keep the high power amplifiers from overheating. Ericsson has switched to a new transceiver architecture that increases integration of semiconductor and passive components to reduce overall system size. Component and semiconductor suppliers mentioned in this report include: Analog Devices, Altera, Anaren Microwave, Coilcraft, Epson Toyocom, Fairchild Semiconductor, Hittite Microwave, Infineon Technologies, Integrated Device Technology, Kemet, Maxim Integrated Products, Micron, Murata, National Semiconductor, NDK, Nippon Chemi-Con, NXP Semiconductors, ON Semiconductor, Panasonic, Peregrine Semiconductor, Pulse Engineering, RF MicroDevices, Skyworks Solutions, STMicroelectronics, TDK-Epcos, Texas Instruments, TriQuint Semiconductors and Vishay Semiconductors.
